and his family members are going to bring back the body. Das is survived by his wife and two sons.

Das, a resident of Belur’s Jenix Road, had left home on June 2. He was part of a 10-member rail team that had gone to Uttarakhand for trekking at Panpotia Glacier. Eight of them work at the Liluah workshop.

On Monday, the team had started from Asitkaal area and was going towards Panpotia Glacier when they got struck by a severe snowstorm on the way. The rest of the team members managed to escape and survive but Das apparently fell and got stuck before getting buried under the snow.

Eastern Railway CPRO Rabi Mahapatra said Das more details were being collected. Officers from Belur police confirmed that Das had died on Monday afternoon and that his body had been sent for post-mortem.
