West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee is set to hold a meeting with a delegation of junior doctors at her residence later today. Post Banerjee's visit to the protest site, the junior doctors wrote to the CM calling a welcome move and a "goodwill gesture." They also asked for another meeting in order to resolve the impasse between the state and the protesting medics.Earlier today, Mamata Banerjee visited site outside Swasthya Bhawan in Salt Lake where junior doctors have been agitating.Despite Mamata's arrival, chants for justice persisted at the protest site. The chief minister, holding the microphone for several minutes, struggled to begin her speech amid the ongoing chaos. She has been requesting permission to address the crowd.I have come forward by leading the student movement, I have also struggled a lot in my life, I understand your struggle. I am not worried about my position. It rained all night yesterday, you were sitting here protesting, I was worried all night. After listening to your demands, I will study them. I do not run the government alone, I will definitely find a solution by studying your demands with senior officials. Whoever is found guilty will definitely be punished. I am asking for some time from you. The state government will not take any action against you (protesting doctors). I request you to return to work.
