Kolkata: Bengal were knocked out of Vijay Hazare Trophy (50-over) meet after Mumbai defeated Railways in a Group ‘E’ match in Ranchi on Wednesday.
The win enabled Mumbai to pip Bengal and finish as the second-best side in the group with a better net run-rate although both the sides ended up with 16 points from six matches.
The Abhimanyu Easwaran-led side recorded four wins and two defeats but lost out on the net run rate of 1.058 to Mumbai’s 1.388.
Bengal beat Goa: Bengal outclassed Goa by seven wickets in the men’s Under-25 State ‘A’ Trophy in Lahli, Haryana, on Wednesday. Sandipan Das (3-25), Durgesh Dubey (3-53) and Kaushik Maity (2-34) did well to bowl out Goa for 209 in 49.1 overs after putting Goa into bat first. Bengal reach the target 210 losing three wickets in 47.5 overs after Shakir Gandhi (72) and Ankur Pail (56) gave them a good start.
