A Kolkata court on Saturday convicted the main accused Sanjay Roy in the RG Kar rape and murder case. He was found guilty under Section 64 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rape, along with Sections 66 and 103(1) for causing death and committing murder.

After the Additional District Judge of the Sealdah Court read out the verdict, Roy was sent to judicial custody and the sentencing will be announced on Monday.

The father of the deceased doctor stated that the appropriate punishment would be determined by the court.

Speaking to ANI, he emphasized their determination to continue seeking justice. "Not just one, but the DNA report shows the presence of four boys and one girl. We will feel some relief when the accused are punished. Until we get justice, we will keep knocking on the doors of the court and will also seek the support of the people of the country," he said.

The father further criticized the Central Bureau of Investigation, claiming that they had done nothing to advance the case.

"The CBI has done nothing in this matter. There is no question of satisfaction here. We have raised several questions before the High Court and the Supreme Court. We have sought answers from the court itself. We did not seek answers from the CBI, but the court assigned all responsibility to the CBI," he added.
