KOZHIKODE
: A 60-year-old man was hacked to death near
DDE office
at
Mananchira
on Saturday. The police did not identify the victim till late on Saturday night.
The police identified the accused in the case as
Prabin Das
from
Valayam
. He was taken into custody police custody immediately after the incident. The police have shifted the body of the deceased to Kozhikode medical college hospital mortuary for completing the formalities.
According to officials with
Kasaba police
, the 60- year- old man was hacked by Prabin around 2pm. The life of the victim could not be saved even though he was shifted to Kozhikode Medical college hospital.
"We have launched a probe into the incident and have collected the statement of the persons who were present on the spot, said the official. More details could be divulged only after interrogating the accused, the official added.
