KOZHIKODE: The police have strengthened vigil at

Chelakkad

and its premises following the of bomb explosion on Sunday night.

Three persons were injured in a steel bomb explosion near Fire Station at Chelakkad. The injured were identified as Puthkoodu Ashraf (40) employee of

Kulirma

coolbar at Chelakkad, K K

Pocker

(51) and K Abdul Latheef (26). According to police, the bomb was hurled at the bakery and Pocker and Latheef were at the shop to purchase items.

The incident was reported around 8.30 pm on Sunday night. According to police, a three member assailant gang reached the spot on a two-wheeler vehicle and hurled the bomb.

The bomb exploded after falling on the road. The police suspect that the assailants reached the spot from

Kuttiady

direction. In another incident bomb was hurled near the house of CPM worker

VM Kumaran

at Poosari Mukku later on Sunday night.

In the meantime, the police refused to confirm that the attacks were part of the on-going political clashes in the region.
