CPM to launch campaign to expose PFI
Kozhikode: CPM has decided to launch an ideological campaign against the Popular Front of India (PFI) ‘exposing its terror content’ against the backdrop of the murder of
A workshop will be held here on July 13 for writers and public speakers under the aegis of the Keluvettan Study and Research Centre to give them orientation. CPM believes that PFI attracted several Left-leaning intellectuals who were duped by the organisation’s ‘anti-fascist face.’
“There are many writers and intellectuals who share platform with the PFI thinking that the anti-fascist posture of the organisation in genuine. Late Mukundan C Menon and K Panur were the NDF’s presentable faces, but Panur had resigned from Confederation of Human Rights Organisations (CHRO), a pro-NDF outfit, realising the danger,” said K T Kunhikannan, director of the Research Centre and the district committee member of the CPM.
The party believes that the PFI is cleverly utilizing the intellectuals to get acceptance in the secular society. CPM’s attempt will be to wean away at least the pro-Left thinkers by exposing the ‘real face of the PFI.’
CPM central committee member Elamaram Kareem, through an article published in Malayalam dailies, lashed out at the PFI saying that it is a recruiter for extremist orgaisations and “an enemy of the Muslims.”
“Popular Front and its allies will create a cover of human rights protection to hide its ugly face. They will attract some people by posing as the victim of Sangh Parivar aggression or purchase some intellectuals,” the article said.
“Government had told the high court in 2014 that PFI-NDF workers were involved in 86 murder attempts and 108 communal clashes in the state,” he said.
Referring to the attack on SFI activist Abhimanyu, Kareem said it is the operation of a ‘killer squad’ trained by the PFI-SDPI. Alleging that PFI is the successor of the banned organisation SIMI, he said all the major PFI leaders have a SIMI background.
