Pro-Palestine rally

​On Thursday afternoon, a massive pro-Palestine rally, organized by IUML, drew tens of thousands of participants to Kozhikode beach, marking the country's largest demonstration in support of Palestine since the Israel-Palestine conflict began.

'Solidarity with Palestine'

Forming a sea of humanity, the activists and participants chanted 'Solidarity with Palestine' and 'Down with Zionism'. The also held banners which were written even in Arabic which read 'Indians with Palestine', 'End the Genocide in Gaza'.

'Israel a biggest terrorist nation'

Inaugurating the rally, IUML state president Panakkad Syed Sadikali Shihab Thangal said that Israel was the biggest terrorist nation in the world and added that the Indian government was trying to whitewash Israel.

Shashi Tharoor speaks


However, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who was the chief guest at the function, in his keynote address 'tacitly' referred to Hamas as terrorists. He, however, added that the Israeli response to the attack was disproportionate and in contravention of the Human Rights Conventions.

IUML leader M K Muneer says​

Reacting to Shashi Tharoor's remark, without naming him, IUML leader M K Muneer said in his speech that when Bhagat Singh and Subhas Chandra Bose fought for the independence of the country, their actions were termed as extremism and terrorism by the British and likewise the fight for independence of Palestine in Gaza is being portrayed by the imperial forces as terrorism
