KOZHIKODE: A major fire broke out at a
textile showroom
at Kalpetta in
Wayanad
Wednesday night.
The fire broke out at the
Sindur textiles
shop at around 8 pm. The blaze which started in the top floor of the
five- storey building
soon engulfed the two floors beneath it.
Four fire tenders from Kalpetta, Mananthavady and
Sultan Bathery
are battling the blaze late into the night, even at 11 pm. Fire tenders from Kozhikode district have also been sought for the operation. There is no report of any casualty.
The fire broke out when the staff was readying to close the shop. There were around 100 people in the building when the fire broke out and a major tragedy was averted as they were quickly evacuated.
Traffic in the
Kalpetta- Bathery road
was affected for hours due to the blaze.
