, 60, Pallppram Muhammed Navas, 36, Pallipram /ibrahimkutty, 44, Pallipram Mujeeb Rahman, 35, Thayyil Saidalavi, 67, Pallippram Abduhaji, 60, Thayyil Moideen Kutty, 65, Pallippram Abdul Rasheed, 46 and Amariyil Beeran, 70, are the accused of the case who have been sentenced for rigorous imprisonment. Among the total of 11 accused of the case, seventh accused Amariyil Muhammed Haji had died during trial period.
The incident occurred on August 29, Friday. Brothers Abdu and Aboobacker, sons of Muhammad Haji, Pulikkal, were killed and fourteen others suffered injuries in the violence at the Juma Masjid at Aalinkunnu, near Kottakkal. The incident was the result of a conflict between the two sections of the faithful who had come to the mosque for the
Juma Namaz
on Friday. Abdu died at a private hospital in Kottakkal while Aboobacker succumbed to hack injuries at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital( KMCH).
The detailed probe conducted by special team of police had found that the incident was the result of a conflict between two sections over the control of the
Mahallu committee

Pulikkal Muhammad Haji had been the president of the Mahallu Committee for the past several years, and he had stepped down from the post following complaints and protests from one section. The dispute over the issue led to the tension in mosque.
