KANNUR: Amidst the reports of CPM-BJP clashes from different parts of the district, police recovered a few steel bombs and other weapons from Kunnoth near Iritty in the district on Tuesday evening.
According to Iritty police, the explosives and weapons, which included seven steel bombs, four swords, two daggers and two axes, were hidden inside the shed in a rubber estate at Kelanpeedika near Kunnoth in the suburbs of Iritty. The bombs and weapons were packed in a gunny bag, and the raids were conducted based on the tip off, said police.
The place is notorious for CPM-BJP clashes and it is suspected that it was kept there with the aim of using it for some attacks later. It is suspected that these things were made recently, said police. In the wake of the seizure of the weapons, police intensified the raids in the locality. Police have registered a case and investigation is on.
