KOZHIKODE: The Malayalam version of top Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar's novel 'The Thorn and the Carnation' was released at a function in Kozhikode on Monday evening.
The book penned by the senior Hamas during his lengthy periods in Israeli prisons was seen by many as an exploration of the struggle and indomitable spirit o f Palestinian resistance.
Writer PK Parakkadavu, who released the Malayalam translation of the book, said Sinwar's language that bears the taste Palestinian people's tears holds a message that Gaza is not going to die.
"The student protests, which began in Columbia University and spreading across campuses, also sends out a message that Gaza isn't going to die," he said.
Sheikh Mohammed Karakunnu, who received the book at the function held at Hira Centre, said that as long as humanity exists, Gaza will remain as the answer to the question as to which society made martyrdom a celebration in history.
Sinwar was released by Israel in 2011 during a prisoner swap for Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. The book, which was published in Malayalam by IPH, was translated by SM Sainudheen.
