7 get lifer for killing truck driver, cleaner during highway robbery in Bulandshahr

MEERUT: The court of additional district judge (ADJ)-III in Bulandshahr sentenced seven men to life imprisonment for murdering a truck driver and helper before committing robbery in a truck loaded with spices.

According to additional district govt counsel (ADGC) Praveen Kumar Rana, the case was registered at Bulandshahr police station on November 25, 2011, by Sanjeev Kumar, a resident of Ghaziabad. He had informed police that his father, Arvind Sinha, used to ride his truck along with a cleaner --Naveen.

“On November 23, 2011, both left from Sahibabad to Patna around 10 pm. Both of them were found murdered the next day along the highway in Bulandshahr while the truck was missing. Police registered a case and arrested the robbers while the truck was also recovered from them,” said Rana.

After the investigation, police filed a charge sheet against all accused in the court. On Monday, ADJ Ashok Kumar Singh sentenced seven men to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 10,000 each.

The court also observed the incident as heinous and said that in such incidents, it is often not possible to find eyewitnesses, but the prosecution has successfully linked the evidence.

The ADGC further said that the convicted persons are Mohd Guddu, Mohd Yameen, Jameel Khan, Mohd Afsar, Jabir Ali, Mohd Rahees, and Mohd Ismail, residents of Hapur, Bulandshahr, and Meerut.
