Aashi Shamshery clinches girl’s title
Lucknow: Aashi Shamshery delivered a scintillating performance to win the girls' title in the 22nd Eldeco Cup AITA U-16 Tennis Tournament, brushing aside Aairash's challenge 6-1, 6-2 at La Martiniere courts on Thursday. In the boys' doubles event, the pair of Sanidhya and Kaustubh defeated Rohin and Arjun 6-2, 6-2 to clinch the title. Interestingly, Sanidhya and Kaustubh will now face each other in the singles final, having defeated Ayaan Yadav and Rohin Raj, respectively, in the semi-finals. Vishal guides SRK Club to thrilling win SRK Sports Club defeated Gurukul Cricket Club by three wickets in a closely contested ‘C' division match of the 20th Babu Banarsi Das Cricket League at CSD Sahara on Wednesday. Batting first, Gurukul Cricket Club posted a total of 227 runs in 40 overs, with significant contributions from Sumit Singh (49) and Rohit Yadav (35). Vishal Rajt was the pick of the bowlers for SRK, claiming 4 wickets for 33 runs. In reply, SRK chased down the target in 34 overs. Vishal Rajt led the charge with an outstanding knock of 62 runs. He was well supported by Yuvraj Singh (40) and Vipin Kumar (31*). In other ‘C' division matches, Paramount Club thrashed Bravers Cricket Club by seven wickets at CSS Ground, while at DD Gosaiganj, SY Infra Club crushed Cric Stars Club by 160 runs. New Boys Club pip Sports College New Boys Club edged past Sports College 1-0 in an league match of the 7th Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Memorial Football Tournament at Chowk Stadium on Thursday. Dhruv netted the only goal of the match in the 35th minute. Earlier, Yuva Club beat Tectro Football Academy 1-0, with Jatin scoring the winning goal in the 24th minute. NCR gymnasts shine in national championship North Central Railway gymnasts performed brilliantly, helping Indian Railways become the overall champion in the Senior National Artistic Gymnastics Championship held at Surat recently. Out of the six players in the Railways team, three were from NCR and bagged six medals. Siddharth Verma won silver, Aditya Singh Rana took home a gold and bronze, and Ashish Kumar of NCR, representing UP, secured bronze in the floor exercise. General Manager (NCR) Upendra Chandra Joshi congratulated the players and coach Devesh for their performances.Inter-school football An inter-school football tournament will be held at Chowk Stadium starting Jan 27. Teams from Delhi, Bareilly, Noida, Moradabad, and Lucknow will take part in the tournament, which will be played on league-cum-knockout format.
