LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav has set camp in Saifai to anchor the election campaign of Dimple Yadav for Mainpuri Lok Sabha bypoll.
Akhilesh reached Saifai on Saturday and held several meetings with party leaders and office bearers to set the stage for Dimple Yadav’s nomination expected to be held on Monday.
The SP had announced the candidature of Dimple Yadav from the Mainpuri seat that had fallen vacant following the demise of SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Yadav along with senior leaders has started camping in the constituency.
On Saturday evening, the SP chief had attended the 20th death anniversary of Ranveer Singh Yadav, MSY’s nephew and father of former Mainpuri MP Tej Pratap Singh Yadav. Ranveer Yadav was the first head of the Mainpuri Block and is also credited to be the founder of the Saifai Mahotsav.
The SP chief also interacted with local members and office-bearers of the party, including current MLAs of all the constituencies of Mainpuri, former MLAs, block pramukhs and other party workers.
In the meeting, it was decided that all the leaders will work in solidarity to ensure that Dimple Yadav gets elected to Lok Sabha with a record margin.
