AKTU to roll-out AI-based attendance system in exams
Lucknow: The management of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University has said it will use artificial intelligence-based mechanism to prepare seating plan in the upcoming examination and marking of attendance.
“The university has introduced admit cards with a special barcode. By scanning the barcode, invigilators can access complete student details. On detecting any tampering, the student will be barred from entering the examination hall,” said vice-chancellor Prof JP Pandey.
Invigilators will also mark attendance with the scanner, take student’s photograph and scan first page of the answer booklet. Both the invigilator and the examinee will digitally sign the attendance on the invigilator’s tablet.
The process will be monitored in real time through an examination dashboard at the control room.
He said centre-wise attendance data from 756 affiliated colleges across UP will be received instantly. As a pilot project, the new mechanism is being used during MTech examinations at the Centre for Advanced Studies.
