Man held in Rs 1.17cr land fraud case

Lucknow: Police arrested one Rajkumar alias Nankau from Hazratganj on Friday for his role in a Rs 1.17 crore land fraud.
The fraud began when one Karan Verma came to know that New Delhi-based Dr Akash Singhal was interested in buying land for setting up a charity hospital. Verma introduced the doctor to one Jitendra Yadav, a land dealer, who offered a plot in Sarai Karora, for Rs 2.4 crore. Verma and his accomplices persuaded Dr Singhal to purchase it for Rs 1.17 crore. Later, Verma paid Rs 10 lakh as an advance to the actual landowner Jaypal and secured the land documents. Verma approached one Bhupendra Singh to forge an Aadhaar card for Rajkumar, who impersonated Jaypal during the land registration process on Sep 22, 2023.
Hazratganj SHO Vikram Singh said investigations are ongoing.
