However, things suddenly changed for Reshma in November when Rajendra decided to fly back to India.
“He told me that since he belongs to an orthodox Hindu family, he is heading home to convince his family in Kushinagar to accept me as their daughter-in-law. But a few days after he left, I came to know that he had resigned from the job,” she told airport officials.
Reshma claimed that Rajendra stopped taking her calls and responding to her messages and mails a couple of days after he reached home.
“One day, he took my call and when I questioned him about his behaviour, he asked me to come over to Kolkata and promised that he will meet me there. I reached Kolkata after informing him about my journey details only to discover that he was not there and was not receiving my calls as well,” Reshma said.
When she sought help from authorities in Kolkata, she was directed to Lucknow.

“I came to know that a woman was weeping at the airport and looking for someone who has failed to turn up. When I heard her ordeal, I decided to help her,” Singh told TOI. On the telephone number provided by Reshma, Singh called up Rajendra. The call was received by his brother.
“I told him I am sending Reshma along with women police personnel to Kushinagar to meet Rajendra. I told them to find out the truth and resolve the issue,” he said, adding that if Reshma was harassed, then proper action would be initiated against the accused if she files a written complaint.
