Ayodhya-Lucknow route gets a Rs 20 crore gateway
Lucknow: Ayodhya continues to acquire a new identity through transformative development projects. In this direction, a grand gate complex and boundary wall have been constructed near Firozpur village on the Ayodhya-Lucknow route at a cost of ₹20.20 crore.
The project has now emerged as a welcoming gateway for devotees and tourists visiting Ayodhya. Two magnificent entrance gates on either side of the Ayodhya-Lucknow Highway are now providing the route with a distinct and impressive new appearance. This project marks another significant step toward transforming Ayodhya into a world-class tourism destination under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Following the construction of the Ram Temple, infrastructure development in Ayodhya has accelerated rapidly. The gate complex is designed to offer devotees and tourists a sense of grandeur from the very first glimpse. Implemented by the tourism department, the project has further enhanced Ayodhya’s beauty and identity. Today, Ayodhya is emerging not only as a religious city but also as a destination equipped with modern tourism facilities. The development has also generated enthusiasm among local residents.
This ambitious project of the Uttar Pradesh tourism department was completed by UP Projects Corporation Limited (construction unit, Ayodhya). Construction began on Nov 1, 2023 and was completed ahead of schedule on Feb 28. Following the completion of the work, the handover process is currently underway.
The gate complex features two grand entrance gates that showcase an impressive fusion of traditional Indian architecture and modern amenities. Alongside the gates, road construction, parking facilities, sewer lines, drainage systems, irrigation lines, rainwater harvesting infrastructure, firefighting systems and internal electrification works have also been completed.
The gate complex enhances Ayodhya’s cultural grandeur while providing modern conveniences. The entrance area has been developed with landscaped green spaces, organized parking facilities and comprehensive security arrangements. The boundary wall ensures the safety and security of the entire complex. As a result of this project, the Ayodhya-Lucknow route has become not only more visually appealing but also better equipped to support transportation and tourism activities.
Manoj Kumar Sharma, project manager of UP Projects Corporation Limited, said, “The gate complex has been equipped with modern facilities such as a rainwater harvesting system, firefighting infrastructure and adequate electrification. These features have made the premises environmentally friendly and secure. Special attention has also been given to providing better parking facilities and maintaining cleanliness for vehicles traveling along the route.”
The project is expected to enhance the grandeur of the entrance to Ram Nagari Ayodhya while contributing significantly to the growth of the tourism industry. The inauguration of the gate complex is likely to take place soon. . The growing influx of tourists is also expected to benefit local businesses, hotels, and the transportation sector.
