BJP did nothing for civic amenities: SP

Lucknow: Accusing the BJP of having nothing to showcase achievement at the civic amenities front, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday said the saffron brigade was trying to rake up issues which have nothing to do with waste management, rising house tax, health and city transport.“Cities have heaps of garbage dumps all over. BJP has failed to implement an effective waste management system. The health infra-structure is in shambles. City transport has not gone beyond what was done during the SP government. House Tax is being increased. BJP has nothing to showcase as an achievement at the civic amenities front. So they are talking about everything else except issues that concern civic polls,” Akhilesh said at a press conference in Lucknow.He said BJP calls itself the largest political party in the world and on the other it is unable to find a winning candidate among its leaders and has to poach winning candidates of other parties. This was in apparent reference to Shahjahanpur where SP’s mayor candidate Archana has defected to BJP. Backing the candidature of party's mayor candidate for Lucknow, Vandana Mishra, Akhilesh said the party will make sure that Lucknow gets its identity of a modern city back.
