Case filed against former UPRNN official for disproportionate assets

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh vigilance department, on Saturday, registered a case against Masood Ahmed, the former unit in-charge of the Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam (UPRNN), for allegedly amassing disproportionate assets during his tenure. The case, filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018), follows an investigation into his finances.
A senior vigilance officer said that the investigation revealed that during his service period, Ahmed, a native of Amroha district and currently residing in Sajjad Bagh Colony under the Chowk police station area in Lucknow, earned a total income of Rs 20.70 lakh from all known and legitimate sources. However, his expenditure on assets and maintenance amounted to Rs 26.51 lakh, resulting in an excess expenditure of Rs 5.81 lakh, which could not be accounted for through his known sources of income.
Based on these findings, the vigilance establishment registered a case at the Lucknow Sector Police Station under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further legal action is underway.
