LUCKNOW: The city residents enjoyed the Odiya culture during the Odisha Foundation Day celebrations at UP Sangeet Natak Akademi on Saturday. The event began with a cultural evening and was followed by an Odiya food festival.

Writer Banaj Devi was the chief guest. Padma Shri Aruna Mohanty in her group performance depicted the journey of Sita from her marriage with Lord Ram till she faced Agni Pariksha.

Aditya Gupta (46), a banker, who attended the event with his son, said: "We came here to witness the dance by Mohanty and we really enjoyed it."

Chandan Prabhakar (23) said: "I feel proud to watch the culture of Odisha getting staged here in the city.”

Priya Chandra (27), who visited the festival with her husband, relished varieties of food. “Among all the dishes I enjoyed Aloo bhora the most,” Chandra said. Among other delicacies were Tanka Torani, a drink served to Lord Jagannath, Macho Pakoda and Chicken Casa.
