LUCKNOW: Youngsters should not just vote but also encourage others to do so, said Anurag Dobhal, famous social media influencer at a voter awareness programme held at KD Singh Babu stadium on Sunday evening.
The event, titled ‘Lucknow Voters Meet’ was attended by over a thousand people.
Anurag Dobhal, also known as ‘Babu Bhaiyya’, said, “Youth of our country should come forward and vote for strengthening our democracy. We should not consider voting day as a holiday instead we should come out and influence our family, friends and acquaintances to cast their vote.”
Surya Pal Gangwar, district magistrate, said, “Every valid voter of the district must vote because it is our fundamental right. It gives us the opportunity to contribute in strengthening our democracy.” “We are conducting several programmes for awareness and to increase voting percentage on upcoming election day on May 20,” Gangwar added.
Ruchita Chaudhry, senior official of Women Powerline (1090), said, “Women in large numbers should come out for voting, this will increase voting percentage and also showcase the power of women.”
Zeeshan khan, a first-time voter from Chinhat said, “I am very excited to be the first-time voter. Now after attending this event, I will definitely vote as I am big fan of ‘Babu Bhaiyya’.”
Another student of a private university, Kavya Awasthi, said, “I will be voting a second time in upcoming elections, after an appeal by my favourite ‘Babu Bhaiyya’ I will ask my friends and relatives to vote.”
