Drunkard arrested for murder bid

Lucknow: A drunkard allegedly tried to kill an egg vendor on Friday night after a heated argument over a disposable glass. 24-year-old Shareef has been selling eggs in the busy Takrohi market in Indiranagar for past two years. His neighbour and regular customer Aqeel, 30, a barber came to him around 9pm and asked for boiled eggs and a disposable glass for his drinks.

"Aqeel is a violent man and has been jailed in the past for attacking a man with scissors. People usually avoid confrontation with him," said Takrohi police outpost in-charge, sub-inspector Avanish Kumar Singh.



On being informed, Indiranagar police took Aqeel in custody. Shareef was taken to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital. Police booked Aqeel with charges under section 307 for attempt to murder and he was remanded to 14-day judicial custody on Saturday.
