Electric vehicle plant may come up at Scooters India

Lucknow: The now closed Scooters India factory premises in Lucknow may be used for setting up an electric commercial vehicle manufacturing plant, the first in the state.The UP government recently signed a Rs 1,500 crore MoU with Hinduja Group’s Ashok Leyland for an e-commercial vehicle plant in UP land for which is currently being identified. “It is highly possible that the unit may come up in the Scooters India land in Lucknow. Prayagraj has also been considered,” said a government spokesperson. The MoU, signed on September 15 in the presence of chief minister Yogi Adityanath, states that Ashok Leyland will establish its first integrated manufacturing plant in UP which will concentrate on the production of e-buses, but will also have the facility to assemble other vehicles which are operated on conventional fuel. The spokesperson said that by 2030, it is expected that around five crore people will be employed in the automobile sector, he said.

Hyundai rushing to open Georgia plant because of law rewarding domestic electric vehicle production

Hyundai is aiming to expedite electric vehicle and battery production at its $7.6 billion complex in Georgia, USA. The move is motivated by federal electric vehicle incentives that reward domestic production. The company plans to start production in Georgia by 2024, ahead of the original target date of January 2025. Hyundai and its battery partner, LG Energy Solution, have increased their investment in battery production at the complex by an additional $2 billion. The increased investment will allow the company to produce enough batteries to supply all 300,000 vehicles that Hyundai plans to assemble there.
