FIR against realtor, his wife for duping woman of Rs82L for villa, plot

Lucknow: A woman residing in Vibhuti Khand area on Monday accused a real estate firm's director and his wife of cheating her family of Rs 82 lakh on the pretext of selling a villa and a residential plot. The complainant alleged that the prolonged financial fraud and alleged threats pushed her family into severe mental distress, leading her 23-year-old daughter to jump from the rooftop of their house, resulting in a spinal injury.According to the FIR, the complainant, Anita Maurya, came into contact with a resident of Mohali in Punjab and his wife in 2014. The couple allegedly developed close family ties with the complainant's family and frequently visited their homes. Anita alleged that during this period, the man proposed investment in his real estate business, offering to sell a villa and a plot. The villa was priced at Rs 48 lakh, while the plot was valued at Rs 36 lakh. Trusting the accused couple, the family sold their own plot and transferred a total amount of Rs 82 lakh between June 7, 2014, and Nov 5, 2014. However, despite full payment, neither the villa nor the plot was ever handed over to the complainant. She alleged that whenever the family demanded possession or documentation, the accused kept delaying the matter until 2017. When the family protested, the accused couple allegedly threatened to eliminate the entire family.
The complainant further stated that after approaching the police, the accused issued a cheque of Rs 38 lakh dated March 31, 2018, which subsequently bounced.Anita claimed that financial loss and continuous harassment shattered the family emotionally. On March 13, their 23-year-old daughter allegedly jumped from the rooftop of the house due to stress and trauma. Though doctors managed to save her life, she reportedly suffered a fractured spine. The complainant also stated that her husband's health deteriorated severely in 2025, and he is currently seriously ill. Inspector Amar Singh said an FIR was registered against the accused director and his wife. "The complainant was called with all relevant documents and evidence. Further legal action will be taken after examining statements and material on record," he said.
