‘Govt must act tough against terrorism, divisive forces’
Lucknow: BSP president Mayawati on Sunday hailed the armed forces for successful execution of Operation Sindoor and said that like crime control measures, the govt should also put in place steps to curb terrorism.Speaking during the national level meeting of the party in Delhi on Sunday, Mayawati said, "Like crime control initiatives, the govt should also initiate terrorism-prevention measures in the interest of the people and the country."She supported the Indian govt's warning against Pakistan's nuclear blackmailing and said that the country should strictly follow national consensus on no third-party mediation on Kashmir issue."The country also needs to strictly follow the national consensus on no third-party mediation on the Kashmir issue by USA or any other country, because it is better we don't trust anyone else on this matter," she said.On assembly elections in Bihar, Mayawati announced that the party would go alone."The govt should control the criminal, casteist, and communal elements who disturb peace and social harmony through malicious and disgusting acts and language," she said, citing derogatory comments made against foreign secretary Vikram Misri and Colonel Sofiya Qureshi."The comments made by a senior Madhya Pradesh minister against the senior woman army officer are acts which should be dealt with strictly at the party level," she added.Mayawati said that the entire country was waiting for BJP to take appropriate action against the MP minister (Vijay Shah). She also called out a senior Samajwadi Party functionary Ramgopal Yadav for making divisive comments against the armed forces. "The attempt to judge and divide defence forces on the basis of caste is unfortunate," she said. She said that Bahujan Volunteer Force should be revived and reorganised to maintain discipline in party programmes across the country.
