Hemant Rao new chief of state’s revenue board

Lucknow: Hemant Rao is the state’s new board of revenue chairperson, replacing Sanjiv Mittal who retired on August 31.
The 1987 batch officer was principal secretary in the department of UP backward welfare and handicap welfare and commissioner social welfare, a post he had been holding in June 2020. He was promoted to additional chief secretary rank in 2018. Rao is due to retire in February 2024.
Mittal, who recently retired, was appointed chairperson of the board of revenue on May 1, 2022. From 2015 to 2017 Mittal was on deputation to Delhi. On this return, he was promoted to ACS and posted in the department of finance. Two other officers, who were in-waiting, were also given posting. Narendra Bhooshan, who till July this year was principal secretary, infrastructure and industries, IT and electronics, has been posted as principal secretary in the department of science and technology. Subhash Chandra Sharma, principal secretary, technical education, for a year till May 2023, has been posted as principal secretary of the department of backward welfare and handicap welfare.
