Sixth edition of Kabir Festival kicks off

Lucknow: The sixth edition of the Kabir Festival commenced with a dance drama titled ‘Haman Hai Ishq Mastana,' staged as the curtain-raiser at the UP Sangeet Natak Akademi on Saturday.
The programme began with a recap of the Kabir Festival over the years. The organiser, Deepak Kabir, said, "We started this festival in 2016 with the aim of inspiring young minds with the inclusive and secular ideology of poet and saint Kabir."
A group of 15 artistes, including Preeti Tiwari, Abhishek Singh, Ankita Singh, Arohini Chowdhary, Ayush Agarwal, Mansi Mishra, Mohit Saini, Nandini Saini, Prerna Vishwakarma, Shili Maurya, and Vikas Awasthi, performed the musical dance drama Haman Hai Ishq Mastana, which is based on Kabir's philosophy.
Filmmakers Avi Kabir and Sujit Singh Banti were honoured for their contributions to cinema and theatre. The festival's poster and film teaser were also launched at the event.
The chief guest was Mukesh Meshram, principal secretary of tourism and culture, while IAS officers Anil Kumar and Hari Om served as guests of honour.
