Law student found hanging in hostel room in Lucknow

LUCKNOW: A 22-year-old student of Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University (DSMRNU) was found hanging in her private hostel room at Krishnagar in Lucknow late on Saturday.


She was rushed to a government hospital but declared dead. Victim Komal Dwivedi (22) was a student of LLB (III) year and was staying at a hostel in Snehnagar.

The incident came to light when fellow hostel girls in the nearby rooms did not notice the victim girl outside her room and knocked on her door but still got no response.

“The girl students then called Komal's father Ram Krishna Dwivedi when the door did not open. He said that he was also calling his daughter but got no response,” said the police.

Krishna Nagar police reached the spot and broke open the door only to find Komal hanging from the ventilator with a rope tied around his neck. Ram Krishna Dwivedi told police that he used to talk to his daughter every evening.

Krishnanagar SHO Vikram Singh said the victim's father Ram Krishna told police that his daughter was living at a hostel located in Snehnagar for almost two years.

"Komal had failed in four papers following which she was upset, her father told police," said Singh.

The exact cause of the suicide is being investigated.
