, on Wednesday wrote a letter to chief minister (CM)
Yogi Adityanath terming sacrifice on the festival as duty of a Muslim.
Maulana Khalid has asked the state government for
goat markets
to be allowed at pre-designated spots across the state. He added the rider that sanitisation of these areas be done and use of masks and physical distancing be made compulsory.
The cleric reasoned that cattle farmers rear animals legalised for slaughtering and sacrifice all round the year, and the festival of Baqr Eid is their bread and butter. He also sought assurance that there be no hindrance in the transportation of animals by such cattle farmers across the various districts.
In the letter to the CM,

also sought permission that based on the capacity of religious places, 50% of the devotees be allowed to visit at one time.
"If the risk of infection in this pandemic is controlled, then permission for Eid namaz across the state with 50% capacity of the mosque or Eidgah should be given," said the cleric.
"Not more than five people should be present at the site of sacrifice and all should be at a distance from one another. Like Muslims refrained themselves from disobeying rules during Ramzan and Eid, Baqreid should also be celebrated in such a way," said Maulana Khalid.
