Lucknow: Youth found hanging inside friend's room

LUCKNOW: A 23-year-old student pursuing course in hotel management from a private university in the city was found hanging at a

friend

's accommodation in Chinhat on Wednesday.


Police sent the body for autopsy and said it might be a case of

suicide

.

According to the police, the student, identified as Vivek Pandey of

Kushinagar

, visited his friend Rishabh Tiwari's house in Chinhat on Tuesday evening. Rishabh, also from Kushinagar, studies in the same university and lived in a rented house.

"Vivek along with his classmates Abhishek, Ritesh Verma and Roshan reached my

room

around 6pm. We had dinner and later started talking about our studies and future. All of us later retired to bed," Rishabh told the police.

He said, "Roshan woke up first in the morning and went to an adjoining room. Later, I found Vivek hanging from the ceiling with a rope tied around his neck. I woke up the others and we alerted the police."

SHO Chinhat Sachin Singh said, "Vivek committed suicide due to depression. Rishabh and other students failed to assign any reason behind Vivek's suicide. We enquired from the university and relatives and got to know that he was under depression fearing uncertain future. We have informed Vivek's family about the incident and sent the body for autopsy."
