Delhi blast: Cash-only Brezza deal by Al-Falah doctors at Faridabad showroom exposes chilling multi-car terror plot
LUCKNOW: Investigators from the Haryana Police, Delhi Police Special Cell, Uttar Pradesh ATS, and Jammu & Kashmir Police are jointly probing whether arrested doctors Shaheen Saeed and Muzammil Shakeel purchased multiple vehicles as part of a larger serial bombing conspiracy linked to the Red Fort blast.
According to probe sources, Saeed and Shakeel — both associated with Al-Falah University — bought a new Maruti Suzuki Brezza on September 25, allegedly paid for Rs 10 lakh in cash.
A photo circulating on social media shows the duo at a Faridabad showroom purchasing the silver-coloured SUV.
Investigators are examining whether the module also procured other cars, including the Hyundai i20 that exploded near Red Fort last Monday, killing 15 people. Agencies suspect a broader plan involving several vehicles being prepared to ferry explosives or deliver bombs as part of a serial ‘revenge’ attack allegedly planned for December 6, the anniversary of the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition.
The Brezza — registered as HR 87U 9988 — was later recovered from the Al-Falah School of Medical Sciences campus in Faridabad. Several more vehicles have surfaced during searches Maruti Swift Dzire, seized last Monday, was found carrying an assault rifle and ammunition. A red Ford EcoSport (DL10 CK 0458) was discovered abandoned in Faridabad last Wednesday.
The conspiracy unraveled after a Hyundai i20, driven by suicide bomber Umar un Nabi, exploded near the Red Fort Metro Station.
Umar — a Kashmiri doctor also linked to Al-Falah University — had reportedly planned to detonate the bomb inside the Red Fort parking area but was unnerved by the earlier arrests of Saeed and Shakeel. The Red Fort being closed on Mondays, he found no crowd, waited for three hours, and eventually triggered the blast at a traffic signal.
Hours before the Delhi explosion, J&K Police announced the busting of an interstate and transnational “white-collar terror module” tied to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, seizing 2,900 kg of explosives, including ammonium nitrate believed to have been used in the Delhi blast.
Investigators are now mapping financial trails, vehicle purchases, and movement histories to determine the scale of the planned attacks and whether more cars remain untraced.
