Min orders water supply completion in Bundelkhand, Vindhya within 30 days
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Jal Shakti minister Swatantra Dev Singh on Monday issued instructions to complete water supply to all households in Bundelkhand and Vindhya regions within 30 days.While reviewing Jal Jeevan Mission projects in Vindhya and Bundelkhand at the Jal Nigam (Rural), the minister issued an ultimatum to companies to complete the project within 30 days, failing which their contract would be terminated and FIRs would be lodged against the company owners.
Expressing grave displeasure over the slow pace of work by a host of prominent companies in Vindhya and Bundelkhand, Singh said that if the work was not completed within the stipulated time, FIRs would be filed against the company owners.The minister also reviewed the repair of roads damaged during pipeline laying. He said that the repair work on all damaged roads should be completed by the end of March at all costs. Singh's instruction on this front came days after his raging stand-off with BJP's Charkhari MLA Brij Bhushan Rajput.Officials said that approximately 9,772 kilometres of road had to be cut during pipeline laying in Bundelkhand and Vindhya regions, and repairs were completed on 9,435 kilometres. In some areas, roads caved in again due to rain or waterlogging. Campaigns are underway to repair these areas.The minister said that all projects in Bundelkhand and Vindhya regions were reviewed. He said that with the exception of 4-5 projects, 100% of the work was completed. "Most villages are receiving 100% water supply," he said, adding that regular water supply was disrupted in approximately 3% of villages due to pipeline damage or other reasons.Singh said the executive engineers and officials of all districts to keep public representatives informed of all situations and provide them with complete information about the work being carried out under the scheme. He also directed action against officials who failed to do so. He also directed the executive engineers and other officials of the districts to reach out to the villagers and resolve their problems.He said that a Jal Utsav will be celebrated from March 8-22 in all villages where 100% of households are receiving water supply. The Jal Utsav is proposed to be celebrated in approximately 22,000 villages across the state.
