Monsoon likely to revive in city, UP today; relief expected for next 7 days
Lucknow: After a weeklong dry and humid spell, the monsoon is likely to revive in Lucknow and other parts of the state from Thursday onwards.
According to senior scientist of the state meteorological department Mohammad Danish, a fresh western disturbance and cyclonic circulation in southeast Madhya Pradesh will bring heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning in both western and eastern Uttar Pradesh. In the state capital, good rainfall is predicted from Friday onwards.
"The monsoon is likely to revive with several spells of rain in the next 7 days. The revival will begin with light rains on Thursday in some parts of UP and gradually cover most districts," said Mohammad Danish.
He said the maximum temperature is likely to gradually fall by 3-5 degrees Celsius during the next 3-4 days, with no large changes thereafter. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature is likely to have no large change during the next five days. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded on Wednesday were 33.5 and 27.6 degrees Celsius, respectively. Also, 1.4 mm of rainfall was recorded at Amausi.
Danish said in Lucknow, light rain is also predicted on Thursday, and thereafter a good spell of rain is very likely. It will be a partly cloudy sky becoming generally cloudy towards noon, with one or two spells of rain/thundershower. The maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 33 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Meanwhile, in the state, rain/thundershower is very likely at a few places over west UP and at isolated places over east UP. Also, there is a warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, which is very likely at isolated places over east UP.
