‘Opposition raises fabricated issues to defame government’

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath took on the Opposition on Thursday, saying that they are in the habit of conspiring against his government to defame it by raising fabricated issues and would not let them die down.

The chief minister was initiating a debate while tabling the second supplementary budget of the current financial year in the state Assembly on Thursday.

“Those who attempted to tarnish the image of the government by throwing rotten potatoes on streets and shed tears for farmers, were exposed as their nefarious activity was caught on CCTV cameras,” said Yogi.

This was the second consecutive day when Yogi attacked the Samajwadi Party. On Wednesday, he said that SP had planned to plunder money in the Poorvanchal Expressway project.

Yogi claimed that Uttar Pradesh has turned into an investor-friendly destination after his government restored rule of the law in the state, improved power supply and ended red tapism and corruption in the state machinery.

“Earlier, broken roads, power shortage, insensitive state machinery and lawlessness were the hallmarks of the state. This government has made a complete turnaround, fetching an investment of over Rs 4.28 lakh crore,” said Yogi.

He added that with the second supplementary budget, the state’s budget had crossed a historic figure since independence of Rs 4.71 lakh crore and investment of a matching figure was also being attracted by the state.

He also told the House that his government has taken up Central government schemes like Swachcha Bharat Mission, under which the state has built nearly 7.50 crore toilets and under the prime minister housing scheme nearly 7.50 lakh houses for the rural and urban poor. Saubhagya Yojana electrification of villages was being carried out with 92 lakh new connections.
