Lucknow: More than 21,000 high risk pregnancies and 17,000 infants were saved with the help of ‘Ayushman Bharat’ in Uttar Pradesh in the past four years.
At an official programme organised to mark the fourth anniversary of the implementation of the scheme in the state held here on Friday, officials said that more than 2.16 crore persons have been enrolled under the scheme while more than 15 lakh have availed its advantages. Principal secretary, health and family welfare, Parth Sarthi Sen Sharma said that the most satisfying part of the scheme is the number of lives saved. The CEO of State Agency For Comprehensive Health and Integrated Services (SACHIS), Sangeeta Singh said that an elaborate system has been developed to help people in using the card. A hotline number 14471 has been issued for addressing the problems being faced in payments of hospitals. Country lead, public policy and finance, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) Dr Santosh Mathew said that there was scope to further simplify the packages and processes in public interest.
A coffee table book on the journey to Ayushman comprising success stories of beneficiaries brought out by SACHIS in association with Centre for Advocacy and Research (CFAR) was also released on the occasion.
