Plea seeking possession of 'temple' in Lucknow’s Teele Wali Masjid is maintainable: Court
LUCKNOW: A district court on Thursday held that a civil suit seeking possession of Lord Shesh Nagesh Teelshwar Mahadev Mandir said to be situated in the compound of Teele Wali Masjid at Laxman Teela along the Gomti river in Lucknow is maintainable.
Additional district judge Prafulla Kamal passed the order rejecting the revision petition filed by Sunni Central Waqf Board pleading that the suit was time barred under the Places of Worship Act 1991.
The judge upheld the order passed by the civil judge (senior division) on September 25, 2017 whereby the lower court had already said that the suit in question was maintainable to be decided on merit.
In 2013, this civil suit was filed in the court of the civil judge alleging that persons of a particular community were damaging the alleged temple.
The suit has been filed in the name of the deity, that is Lord Shesh Nagesh Teelshwar Mahadev. The plaintiff had demanded the possession of the temple and also sought permission to worship in the alleged temple.
