Raj Garden crush Kalpana Foundation by 102 runs to win ‘C’ division league
Lucknow: Raj Garden crushed Kalpana Cricket Foundation by 102 runs to lift the 20th BBD ‘C' Division Cricket League trophy at the Surya Cricket Ground on Friday. Opting to bat, Raj Garden posted 189 runs in 36.5 overs, with Vaibhav Yadav slamming an unbeaten 73 off 74 balls. Brijesh Sharma also contributed handsomely with a brisk knock of 54 runs. In reply, Kalpana Cricket Foundation crumbled under pressure, managing only 87 runs in 27 overs. Raj Garden's Ayush Jaiswal delivered a match-winning spell, claiming four wickets for just 25 runs. He was well-supported by Rishabh Yadav and Vaibhav Pal, who took two wickets each. For his standout performance throughout the tournament, Samrat Tiwari of Kalpana Foundation was adjudged Man of the Tournament, while Shahid Khan and Ayush Jaiswal received the Best Batsman and Best Bowler awards, respectively. UP contingent given send off In a send-off ceremony for the Uttar Pradesh contingent participating in the 38th National Games, advisor to the chief minister Avnish Kumar Awasthi distributed kits to the players at KD Singh ‘Babu' Stadium. Awasthi highlighted the unprecedented facilities being provided to sportspersons in the state and expressed confidence that the players would elevate UP's stature with their performances at the National Games in Uttarakhand. Other present included director (Sports) RP Singh, UPOA general secretary Anandeshwar Pandey, treasurer Syed Rafat Zubair Rizvi, and regional sports officer Animesh Saxena. Kalaripayattu UP Kalaripayattu Association president Neeraj Singh extended best wishes to the players for their National Games performances. State general secretary Praveen Garg said that a week-long camp for 14 players was held from Jan 18 to 24. New Boys, Big Blue win New Boys Club edged past LIFA Club 5-4 in a penalty shootout in a league match of the 3rd Samir Memorial Football Tournament at Chowk Stadium on Friday. The second match, between Sports College and Big Blue Club, also remained goalless in regular time and went to a penalty shootout, where Big Blue Club clinched the match 4-3. DYA beat NDBG Dayanand Youngmen's Association (DYA) defeated NDBG Cricket Club by seven wickets in the opening match of the 3rd U-25 CAL League, held in memory of Karim Chishti at Rahas Bihari Tiwari Stadium on Friday. Batting first, NDBG scored 200 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 40 overs, with Gurman Singh (48) being the highest scorer. Nishish, Kartik, Dhruv, and Ishaan claimed two wickets apiece. In reply, DYA achieved the target in just 29.3 overs, thanks to standout contributions from Naman Singh (48), Lakshya Tiwari (69), and Abhijay Singh (54).
