UP shines bright in nat’l solar awards event
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh delivered an impressive performance at the Prime Minister Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme Awards ceremony held in Delhi. The state was honoured in several key categories for its notable achievements in solar energy.
Uttar Pradesh stood first in the country in the high consumer base category for the highest number of consumer applications (1,02,035), the highest number of solar installations (64,734), and the highest vendor registrations (779). Additionally, the state came second in the category of DISCOM inspections. Furthermore, Lucknow district ranked first in the country for total rooftop installations.
Under the Prime Minister Surya Ghar scheme, more than 5.64 lakh rooftop solar plants have been installed in Uttar Pradesh so far, making the state one of the leading solar energy states in the country.
Due to the efforts of the Yogi government, the biggest beneficiaries of this scheme are ordinary citizens. Electricity bills of lakhs of families have reduced significantly, and many consumers are now generating their own power. This has increased household savings, promoted energy self-reliance, and accelerated the adoption of clean energy.
The decentralized implementation and centralized monitoring model adopted by the Yogi government, effective coordination at the district level, active participation of DISCOMs, and extensive public awareness campaigns have played a crucial role in this success.
