Urdu Akademireleases award winners’ names

Lucknow: UP Urdu Akademi announced names of their annual award winners for the year 2019 and 2021 on Wednesday. As many as 189 awards will be given to several Urdu poets, writers, journalists and promoters of Urdu in total 14 categories at a ceremony organized during the four-day celebrations of 200 years of Urdu journalism and 50 years of akademi in March.The highest award of the ceremony Maulana Abul Kalam Azad award will be given to Prof. Abdul Haq from Delhi and Prof Ateequallah from Delhi for 2019 and 2021 respectively. The award winners will also receive prize money of Rs 5 lakhs. “The names of the winners have been selected after an executive committee meeting. The names are nominated by people themselves on the recommendation of other Urdu writers, promoters and vice-chancellors of various universities,” said akademi chairperson Chaudhary Kaif ul Vara.
