The decision, said basic education minister Satish Kumar Dwivedi, has been taken to safeguard the future of children of migrant workers.

"Yogi government has always focussed on 100% enrolment of children living in villages. Children of migrants, who are in the school going age, will be given admissions in this academic session as they are residents of UP," Dwivedi told TOI.

The basic education department has directed education officers in all districts to publicise the decision among the families of migrants so that maximum children get benefitted. Department's director Sarvendra Vikram Bahadur Singh has asked basic shiksha adhikaris to reach out to families by seeking community participation.

As per the order, the first lottery for admissions under the RTE Act has already been announced. The admissions of migrant workers need to be included in the next phases of RTE lottery.
