Yogi govt distributed Rs 163cr aid among 3 lakh flood-hit farmers across 24 districts
Lucknow: With disbursement close to Rs 163 crore as financial assistance for compensation of the damaged crops, the Yogi Adityanath govt has emerged as a saviour for farmers affected by floods.According to officials, the financial assistance has been provided to 3,12,866 farmers across 34 flood-affected districts. Ravaged by Sharda and Ghaghra rivers, Lakhimpur Kheri received the highest aid with 1,10,105 farmers getting Rs 71 crore as assistance.Moreover, money was also provided to 54,462 farmers in Lalitpur and 29,261 farmers in Siddharthnagar.Committed towards increasing the income of farmers, the Yogi govt has been providing compensation for damaged crops to the farmers for the past several years.Relief commissioner Bhanu Chandra Goswami stated that under the instructions of CM Yogi, an exhaustive survey of the damage caused by the floods was done across the flood-hit areas in the state to assess the losses and transfer the due amount promptly to the affected farmers.He mentioned that water released from Nepal and hilly regions affected crops grown over 1.11 lakh hectares in the affected districts. Compensation is provided for crop damage exceeding 33% due to unseasonal rain, hailstorms and floods. The flood affected the crops of nearly 3.70 lakh farmers out of which 3.13 lakh have been already paid.In Lalitpur, about 82,000 farmers were identified out of which 54,462 have been catered to by the local administration.In Siddharthnagar 29,261 agri producers were given financial aid.Besides these three districts, money has been distributed in Ambedkarnagar, Auraiya, Ayodhya, Azamgarh, Badaun, Bahraich, Ballia, Balrampur, Banda, Barabanki, Basti, Bulandshahr, Farrukhabad, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Hamirpur, Hardoi, Hathras, Jalaun, Jhansi, Kanpur Dehat, Kushinagar, Mau, Mirzapur, Pilibhit, Rampur, Saharanpur, Shahjahanpur, Shravasti, Sitapur, and Varanasi. Compensation has been provided to 98% of the affected farmers in 30 districts while remaining are going to be paid in the coming days, said officials.
