2 more record evidence in tax evasion case
Ludhiana: Two income tax officers on Tuesday recorded their statements for evidence in the court of chief judicial magistrate P S Kaleka, in connection with the tax evasion cases against chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh and his son Raninder Singh.
The next hearing of the case is on July 29.
Deputy director of income tax (Investigation wing) Amanpreet Kaur Walia recorded evidence in the cases on Tuesday.
Counsel for I-T department, Rakesh Gupta, said after I-T officer Walia’s statement, the evidence stands complete in the cases against Capt and his son registered under section 277 (false statement of verification) and section 276 C (evasion of tax) of the IT Act, respectively.
He added that joint director of Pune income tax department, Amit Dua, who was deputy director during initial investigation of the cases, has also given his evidence in the case against Raninder Singh.
Gupta added that they got additional evidence recorded in the case from Dua against Capt’s son after their application under Section 311 of CrPC, seeking court’s permission to allow them to submit more documents as evidences, which was allowed by the court on July 4.
The investigation wing of the I-T department had filed a case of alleged income tax evasion against Capt and two others against his son Raninder.
