Ludhiana: Congress workers on Wednesday staged a protest against Sangrur MP Simranjit Singh Mann at Daresi Road. The agitation was held against Mann’s recent remarks against Shaheed Bhagat Singh. The protestors have demanded that sedition case be filed against Mann and he should be arrested immediately.
Giving more information, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) secretary Parminder Mehta said, “It is matter of shame that Simranjit Singh Mann is terming Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh as terrorist, but both state and centre government are silent over it. Bhagat Singh is a role model for entire Punjab and the country, it is because of sacrifices of youth like Bhagat Singh that India got its independence from the British rule and contribution of such heroes and freedom fighters cannot be forgotten at any cost. ”
Mehta added, “Though both the Aam Admi Party (AAP)-led state government and BJP-led Union government are under scanner for their inaction in this case, but silence of chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and other senior leaders is very deafening because CM took oath at memorial of Bhagat Singh. It is high time that the CM proves that he and his party really respect Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Therefore he must get booked Simranjit Singh Mann under sedition case and get his arrested.”
