LUDHIANA: In a major action, the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) on Thursday morning raided former Punjab cabinet minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, his close associates & Congress leaders Sunny Bhalla and Raman Subramanian and several contractors.
The action is said to be conducted in connection with the famous food grain scam of Punjab which took place during Ashu's tenure as food, civil supplies and consumer affairs minister.
Meanwhile, according to sources, different teams of ED officials comprising of more than 150 paramilitary personnel simultaneously raided about 20 premises this morning which include several homes, offices and commercial buildings in Ludhiana and Nawashahar.
It has also been learnt that Ashu's former PA Inderjit Indi and another aide Pankaj Malhotra Meenu have also been raided.
According to ED sources, as the action progresses more people could also come under the scope of investigation particularly some Congress leaders.
