Ludhiana: A day after an altercation between WWE wrestler Dalip Rana, alias The Great Khali, and Ladhowal toll plaza workers, the former reached the Ludhiana commissioner of police office and lodged a complaint against the latter on Tuesday. Khali met additional deputy commissioner of police, headquarters, Pragya Jain and gave a written complaint.
On Monday, a video of Khali and the Ladhowal toll plaza workers was circulating on social media. It was made by one of the workers. In it, the toll plaza workers said Khali slapped one of them, whereas the wrestler has accused them of blackmail and misbehaviour.
Khali said, “I was going to Karnal from Jalandhar in a car. When I reached Ladhowal toll plaza, its workers asked for a picture with me. I refused as I was in a hurry. This offended them and they did not allow my car to move further till I got a picture clicked with them.”
“They were forcing me to get clicked. As I refused, they started leveling false allegations that I slapped a worker. In fact, they misbehaved with me and passed remarks against me. After the incident, I had not thought of complaining against them. However, when they made the video viral to defame me by levelling false allegations, I decided to lodge a complaint. The police official has assured action after a fair probe. If needed, I will take up the matter with the higher authorities. I want action against the workers and the licence of the toll plaza company suspended,” added Khali, who had joined the BJP in February.
Commissioner of police Kaustubh Sharma said he would get the matter inquired after which action would be taken.
No complaint was received from the toll plaza workers.
