Gwalior student robbed of high-end phone at knifepoint
Ludhiana: A road trip with friends turned out to be a traumatic experience for a 19-year-old BBA student from Gwalior, who lost his high-end mobile phone to robbers at Ludhiana-Delhi National Highway.
Ravi Gurjar, 19, was on a road trip with his friends Rohit Sharma, 25, Vishal Rathor, 25 and Vivek Gurjar, 20. They left Gwalior for Ladakh in their SUV on May 4. On their way back on May 10, they stopped outside a dhaba located opposite Sahnewal police station to take a nap. That is when the robbers targeted them.
Talking to TOI, Ravi said, “We were sleeping in the car when my friend Rohit and I alighted to relieve ourselves. Two men on a white scooter approached us and asked for directions. I told them I had no idea. One of them brandished a knife and overpowered me. My friend Rohit ran away.”
He added that the accused demanded money and he told them that he was not carrying cash. “Thereafter, they frisked me and found my smartphone. They asked for its password. When I refused to divulge it, they slashed my wrist with the knife. I fell down bleeding and the accused escaped.”
The victim said they tried to chase the accused but to no avail. When they went to Sahnewal police station, a policeman allegedly told them that such cases were routine here. “We lodged a written complaint and waited till the next morning hoping for an update. Then we left Ludhiana as we had to reach home. I hope Ludhiana police finds my mobile phone soon.”
