LUDHIANA: Upset over “harassment” at the hands of his wife and her family members, a man ended his life by hanging himself at GTB Nagar in Khanna in Punjab's Ludhiana district.

Police registered a case against three accused, including Paramjit Kaur, wife of deceased Anup Singh, her father Kala Singh of Kartar Nagar in Khanna and her sister Raju.

Complainant Sant Ram of Jargari in Payal of Ludhiana district said that his son Anup Singh and Paramjit tied the knot 29 years ago and the couple had three sons.

Sant Ram said that his son had started living at GTB Nagar in Khanna with his family some time ago.

He alleged that Paramjit used to beat up and harass his son.

The complainant told cops that Anup’s father-in-law Kala Singh and his sister-in-law Raju would also harass him.

He added that fed up with all this, Anup Singh ended his life by hanging himself with the shower in the bathroom on Monday morning after which they informed the police.

On being informed, City Khanna officials reached the spot.

Police later booked the accused under sections 306 (abetment to suicide) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC.
