Late-night firing at house leaves family shaken
Ludhiana: Two unidentified men fired at least seven gunshots at a house in Roomi village, Jagraon in the early hours of Tuesday. A woman who lives in the house noticed the bullet marks on the main gate in the morning and alerted the police.Complainant Paramjit Kaur's husband has been living in Canada for the past three years. She lives in the house with her two children and mother-in-law. Paramjit Kaur said that her mother-in-law had gone to a relative's house on the night of the shooting and she was home with the children. While they were asleep at around 2:20am, she heard explosives sounds and put it down to someone bursting crackers. In the morning, she noticed marks of at least six bullets on the main gate and raised an alarm. Her mother-in-law, Malkit Kaur, said, "We do not suspect anyone for the attack as we do not have rivalry with anyone. I want police to trace the accused soon as I am worried about the safety of my family." Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Jagraon Jaswinder Singh said a CCTV camera installed near the house captured two suspects on a bike. Police are trying to trace them and have registered a case against the accused. Despite the family's claim of no known rivalry, police suspect that the shootout may have been prompted by an old grudge. They will contact the complainant's husband to ascertain if the firing has an overseas connect. Police said teams have been formed to trace and track the accused.Box: Ready to be triggered?
